Greetings Poetry Lovers and Poetry Curious,
The name of this blog is a continuation of projects formerly on Youtube, which a change of life circumstances placed on indefinite pause. Out of a desire to continue to share my life as a poetry reader, I've decided to engage in the quieter activity of blogging. No lights, no camera, no talking. Instead I'm returning to the more formal, and mentally demanding, activity of putting thoughts, which have become less organized as I age, into text.
I hope to put here in written format the same poetry appreciation format of my videos with my quirky habit of comparing the poem to other arts. I may branch out into comparing them to other things as well.
In addition to poems, I'll be reviewing poetry books here as well. I've recently purchased all of the books that either won or were publicly announced runners up for the three major poetry prizes for 2024. So there will definitely be books to blog about.
I've also subscribed to some poetry journals (a separate video on that coming up).
One advantage to converting to a blog format is that I can pop in and share updates and tidbits from my reading life that are not really worthy of a full video. My life is a bit full of disruptions at the moment so my reading has gotten eccentric, in the way that an orbit can be eccentric. Having a place to talk a bit about my wobbling will hopefully keep me on some sort of track so that I don't escape entirely.
